Have you ever tried to salvage a missed shot?

I'm pretty sure everyone has! Well, it happens to the pros, too. Have a look here.

This made me feel so much better about sometimes forgetting to change the settings on my camera!

Happens to us all from time to time.

Yes, but not by posting it "as is". I will sometimes use that kind of shot to play around with post-processing and interesting effects. But if that was my shot, I wouldn't have posted it that way.

@olivetreeann If your name was Paul Nicklen and the shot was of a huge polar bear you might have ;-)

@hamora (o: I am not familiar with his work- but yes- once you achieve a certain name recognition and level of success, I guess you can post anything to encourage and teach others (which judging from the comments he did). I was really just speaking about me- I'm too tough on myself sometimes!!

yes absolutely... unfortunatley, I cant see the shot thats in the link as i'm at work (yes, work blocked it)

In iceland i took a few shots and the "properly" exposed one had hard shadows and highlights blown out. Following advice by Elia Locardi, I brought up the -1 exposed image which looked too dark. On further inspection, there was actually no clipping on either end and I was able to post process it to the below using LR and PS. Still not happy with it, i feel i'm losing detail in some of the ice and the blue's are a little too blue. I'll have to give it another shot editing some of these
