i wouldn't pay *any* price to avoid ads, but if the *only* thing membership got me was no ads, it would be worth it to me... i dislike ads intensely... i get completely the business reason why they show up on websites and i wouldn't criticize a site admin for having them, but i really appreciate having the choice to avoid them...
Okay, Brendan, I am confused. I don't see any ad's. I do see the "ace" by your name. Reading you comments, I'm not sure, are you still an "ace" member?
@northy I totally agree with you. I try and avoid intrusive adverts at all costs, I have in the past stopped using sites ( generally not just photography ones,) that have introduced adverts. If its somewhere I can't avoid going to, its a very brief visit, find out the info I need and gone. No more browsing or interaction with that site.
I don't see any ads on this site ...but I use AdBlocker, so that may be the reason. I tend to avoid sites with ads that I can't block, and usually just stop going to them.
no ads for me either - on the couple of game sites where there are ads - i won't pay there - I use them as my going to the loo making a coffee checking other pages time hahahaha - same as ads on TV - avoid where possible.
I have often been astounded by peoples avoidance of paying $20 for membership here. It is an amazing community and I am sure everyone on here pays $20 for something absolutely useless at some time throughout the year.
I understand that it's expensive to host so many images, so I really don't mind the ads. Much better than deleting images to free up space or something, especially for us non-ace members. If I can't pay the ace fee, I can at least help support the page by looking at ads. :)
Seems like a very simple choice...... either pay the very reasonable Ace membership fee or put up with the ads and quit moaning. Either way you are helping fund this most excellent site. :)
Sooner or later advertisers will realise the they have hit saturation point where ads are starting to be counter productive. The constant, repetitive and intrusive ads just put me off buying the products they are promoting.

I know I had some message about my ACE that need to be renewed but life is very short and time to be here is very very limted.
Its been 4 years since my account expired so maybe that is it.
My business mind now wonders if it is worth more to have adverts than memberships?
Also as members are we ok not to have ads and given the other things of membership would you be ok with ads with membership?
