Has anyone ever wished they had a promotional flyer or a "business card" or something they could give to strangers that explained and promoted the concept of 365. I know I have.
It would come in handy when you are trying to get a stranger to pose for you for a photo but would be even more use when you are trying to explain the concept to another happy snapper that you come across while out taking photos. I often go through a random and totally confusing one minute spiel which usually results in the poor person not only not joining up to 365 but giving away photography altogether. (Ever wonder who all these people are selling camera gear on e-bay and Gumtree?)
If someone came up with a short, simple explanation it would be pretty simple to get it printed out on business cards. The Art Abandonment group on Facebook has something like that so you can just print the info instead of having to come up with a way to explain it yourself.
Hmm... I've never tried to persuade someone to do 365, simply explaining it as a 'take and post a photo a day' project as a way of getting better.
BUT, this occurred to me while reading the above posts. You could both explain and persuade by comparing photography to learning to play a musical instrument. Best way to learn is play every day and try new things.
Interesting question.. I've told people about my project and this website so much, and written about my project over the years on my blog, but I don't think I have a 'standard paragraph' although I do include something like:
"To take a photo everyday means looking for something interesting in the ordinary, even if you think you've done it before."
and
"this is one of the most supportive communities on the internet"
I echo your comments Terry I try to explain what the 365 project is all about to other like minded folk and also people/strangers I take shots of but its not easy, a link that they could view would be an great way forward:)
