Sigma 17-35 lens stuck

My friend is away on holiday on a Norwegian cruise. Her wide Sigma 17-35 lens is stuck. No recollection of a drop or knock but it just won't move.

Any advice for her on how to remedy this please??

My Sigma lens has a lock on it that keeps the focal length set at whatever you want - locks the lens so it is stuck. Ask her if it is locked. (you never know and hopefully it is this easy!!)
It says 'lock' right on the lens.
