This one was a butterfly that had kept me on the hop for the better part of an hour trying to capture a shot with it's wings open - they were the most vivid orange colour
I adore this photo of our younger daughter Gwendolyn in the Butterfly Conservatory at Niagara Falls. We are going to get this printed on a canvas for our wall. A wonderful memory from our overseas holiday
@beautyfly2010 The butterflies with see-through wings are called Glass-wing butterflies. They come from the tropical rainforests of South America, and are very popular in butterfly farms around the world. I took the picture of the Glass-wings at Butterfly World in Cape Town, South Africa.
@eleanor That is really neat, I will for sure be doing some research on these little guys to show my family!! I went to a butterfly farm in Costa Rica back in 2009 but they didn't have any Glass-wing butterflies : (

A peacock I struggle to get a decent picture of butterflies outside, they won't stay still long enough for me!
