Editing Whle Traveling

June 2nd, 2019
I'm looking for ideas to replace my laptop for something lighter when traveling - just to do the minor cropping and little adjustments until I get home. Has anyone found something they really like and is light weight (and not horribly expensive).

If your camera has Wifi capabilities, iPad with Lightroom on it. Or, for quick edits just the "native" iPad Pictures app. The latest non-pro iPad starts at 325 dollars, and it can work with the Apple Pencil.

Last summer I traveled just with that, and it was great both for staying connected, using emails and other apps, and editing quickly and effectively.

If you just want an app for you phone, Snapseed is by far the best. I have been using it for years before I got a camera and laptop. Both Photoshop and LR have apps for phones as well.

If your mobile phone has a reasonable camera, I would suggest that in addition to the Snapseed app. You can upload your photos to 365 from the phone.

I use an iPad when travelling and a little white connector that I put the memory card into and upload to Photos. There is a reasonable editing programme built in to the iPad for simple edits.

Apple products are a little pricey but...I love my iPad and would never go back to a Windows product. Everything is very intuitive. I use a card reader like @casablanca and either the built in editing on the Photos app or Snapseed.

I have an iPad, with Snapseed photo editing software. I also got an attachment so I can read file direct from my memory card.

In Android, you can import image files from your camera's memory card using an OTG cable and card reader. Snapseed can import raw files, but only in DNG format. Obviously, it can import JPGs.
