I took a pile of macros at mums the other day (massive garden full of bugs and flowers)... anyhow i got home and uploaded... looking through the photos my skin was CRAWLING, soooo many bugs that i just plain didnt see!!
ICK.
So, i put to you, what macros have you taken that have shocked you once you've seen it full size?
Mine...
If you look at the top middle of this photo... yes there is a spider! I had held this hibiscus to get it in the right light... also the bug on the left... also had no idea that the yellow bits (the name escapes me right now!) LOL would be little balls just assumed it would be i dont know powdery or something?!
Not on the "buggy" front but my hair... i had NO IDEA how course it would look close up and how angular the ends would be, i just expected it all to be straight cut if you know what i mean...
@sam_cr Samantha, They are amazing photos.. I love the one of the hair.. stunning.. In a perfect world, I would use macro all of the time. I find it truely fascinating.. just so incredible when you upload a image and then see it full screen.. Often breath taking.
Here is one of my favourites from my collection.. The reason I have chosen thi sone, is because I can still feel the feeling I had when I first saw this photo once I uploaded it. The shot shows the impact of a drop of water.. The size of the effect was too small for the naked eye to see. The ripple effect was around a few mm.. I never expected to see inside the ripple or the other water drops bouncing.
There are some amazing Macro photographers on 365, and I am in constant awe of their work..
I was laying on the grass taking these shots. This flower is only 1cm across and I didn't notice the tiny spider until I got the photo it on the computer
@hdoyle Thats a VERY awesome photo!! Love it! love the bokeh too :)
@michelleyoung seriously the most fascinating and brilliant photo!! the ripples and the colour, STUNNING!
@vaderkip Thats crazy! tiny little thing i know just how small those little "flowers" are!! isnt it a trip seeing a creature in the photo you had no clue was there?!
@vikdaddy Very cool photo! The colours are amazing!
@laceyjogautreau hehe they are fun, the working distance is only 5 - 7cm though so it can be hard work, and we use a flash defuser, otherwise they come out too dark with the extension tubes :)
I'm constantly surprised by the details when I look through the viewfinder. But the big ones for me are:
This one for the eyes.
This one because I've only ever known ladybirds to have a "shiny" shell. Certainly wasn't expecting a "fur" of sorts.
And I know I've posted this one before but when I looked through the viewfinder I was totally shocked to see what this tiny little insect ended up being. It was only around 5mm long.

I have a Tamron 90mm, every time I take a shot with it I'm amazed at how detailed things are, especially bugs, fly's eyes are amazing!
@wahyusp WOW, is all i can say!! wow!
@laceyjogautreau Lacey, hey! i dont have a macro lens!! i use a 50mm with extension tubes! :) x
I couldn't beieve the detail on the wings and legs. After this shot I am hooked on macro!! Love looking at everyones macro photos.
