America, America

April 12th, 2011
So today in one of my classes, I realized how many international students were here. Since I've been at school here I met a girl from Spain, a guy from Egypt, and there are numerous people from Australia and Turkey, and plenty of other countries represented in the student body.) So my question is when you think America and things you've "got to see" here, what do you think.

When you think England, you think London, the castles, stonehenge, the cliffs of dover, etc.
When you think France you think Paris, the Lourve, the Eifle Tower, Chateau de Versailles, etc.
You get the point. But here in the U.S., every state really has it's own personality and it's hard for me, a native, to understand precisely what foreigners come here for.
Is it NYC, is it Las Vegas or Los Angeles?

Do you have pictures of great places in the U.S.? Post them here!

Even though I live in the US, there are still so many 'touristy' places to go! Here's a couple pics from a trip to Seattle.

@refriedradio So true! I'm a New Yorker, that has never been to Ellis island, The Statue of Liberty, or the Empire State Building, etc. I feel like when we actually live somewhere, we don't take advantage of what it right before us, because we're always looking for something better elsewhere.

I'm not much for touristy landmark shooting (yet!), but here's something we see everyday, no matter where we are!!

I think being in Australia, and it being such a young country, just over 200 years since colonisation, we miss out on alot of european/american history, and also being so far away, its hard for us to just pop over to see it!

@moncooga Where was that picture of Half Dome taken from? I've been there so many times, I've lost count, but the angle of the picture gives me a new perspective on the dome.

@webfoot Paul, believe it or not, that was shot right from the Tunnel View entrance where the big overlook is. It was a 600mm lens. That was the trick.

@lochnessmonster It is the most amazing place to me. I was fortunate that I used to have to travel to Fresno once a year for work, so it was a short drive up the road, 100% paid for! Lucky me.

@robinwarner San Fransisco is my favorite U.S. city that I've been to so far! Great shots!
