Looking for ideas for a third year

December 26th, 2011
I am considering continuing my 365 project for a third year. I also plan on starting my own 365 project on https://www.facebook.com/pages/Photo-by-Joseph-Ciras/323289037696941, my Facebook page. I am asking my 365 followers for ideas. After two years doing the 365 project, my photos are starting to repeat themselves. Please post what types of photos you would like to see throughout the year.

The obvious, what you have stayed away from taking.

My wife has challenged me to go out and take pictures for a month, NO TRAINS!! That is going to be hard.

How about every bird that flies by?

@byrdlip Funny! I have not taken pictures of people because I do not think that I should post their photos without permission. I will have to look at my photos to see what I have been staying away from.

I am getting ready to start my 2nd year, and have been thinking the same thing.... I don't want to get boring. One think I may do, is pick several of my favorite places to shoot, and take a pic of it on the same day every month..... ie, the dam near my house ( I know you like dams) a favorite tree, my garden, etc... and see how it changes through the year and the seasons. also thinking of doing more of the themes and stuff.... we'll see how it goes !

@byrdlip I agree. For year two I worked with some people on creating a list of things we did not do, things we should do, things that need to be revisited (water drops are my downfall) or techniques and composition to work on. We have a spread sheet going and each week we are going to work on one of the tasks with one to seven pictures. I figured now that I have a great comfort zone, now is the time to break it.

3rd year for me too, and I'm not sure what direction to take. Good luck.

Hi Joe, I looked at your album and I see flowers and water feature quite often. How about a series on the different native wildflowers through the year, or animals & plants around the dam? Or experiement with using your infrared camera in a different way? Are there photoshop tecniques you are interested in extending? Volunteer to photograph the local folk music group (explain you would like to use one to upload - you can shoot the instruments if you don't want to shoot people). Ask the local sporting clubs if they are looking for some records of events? Borrow a friends collection (of anything) and research about the object as you shoot it (eg cameras, stamps, crockery...anything really). You could shoot one shot a week from the 365 challenges. Google 'ideas for taking 365 photos' and visits sites like http://www.digital-photography-school.com/7-photography-projects-to-jumpstart-your-creativity. Visit the local library & borrow some photography books or biographies for inspiration?
Being here for over 700 photos you must really enjoy 365 ! Good luck with year 3!

Gosh 3rd year... amazing well done! I am a relative newbie and after the ease of finding things to snap over Christmas I'm wondering what to look for in potentially miserable January. Thought I'd find seven things I enjoyed snapping or ways of doing it, and keep a checklist of them for when I get stuck each week. Also, over the last week I chose some favourite Christmas songs and found a way to take a picture for each. Not sure if that is any help, but good luck! :)

Wow, I'm very impressed you are going into your third year. I'm just finishing up my first year and looking forward to the break.
