Me Every Week: Monday 9 - 15 Januari: Accessories!

January 10th, 2012
This is the twenty-fifth official Monday of this challenge!
This is a competition that starts on Monday and lasts the whole week. Make a self-portrait every week, based on a new theme.
The new theme will be posted on Monday.
Sooooo, that's the theory, but somehow it went wrong this week. So I post the new theme a day late. I hope you all will still find the way and creativity to join!

This last week was all about dreams. Livvy picked the winner and it's Rebecca M ( @honeybees ) with this really cool picture:

Congratulations Rebecca, love the dream, don't we all want to be a child from time to time?!?

It was such a wonderful challenge last week! I love how we all have different dreams.

This weeks selfies must be based on Rebecca's choice: Accessories!
She said: "The selfie themes are always fun and I was so honored to win! I was thinking this week’s theme could be jewelry or accessories. Anything from watches, rings, piercings, or purses. Feel free to change it anyway you see fit."

I think it's going to be a really interesting challenge, it can be interpreted in any way you want!!! ;-)

And this weeks selfies are again also date-restricted. You only can take and post them until late Saturday evening or Sunday morning, depending on where you live! Then Rebecca will pick the winner and he or she can choose the new theme for next week.

You can post your self-portrait in this thread and tag it with monday-sp25.

Have fun!!! I'm sure we all have really nice trinkets and I wonder what they look like... ;-)

I don's use very many accessories but I do feel as if I am not dressed if I don't have my ear rings on. This pair I made to match a necklace one to my students made for me when I worked at the school.

Each one of these beads has a story.
Each story is a memory.
Each memory is a gift.

I just found out about this competition after someone recommended that I tag this photo to enter it.

This is mine - "Death by Accessories" My vision in my head was to be completely weighed down by all the 'extra' things we include in life, strangled by all the 'stuff' we add to ourselves to try and make ourselves beautiful when we are just gorgeous the way we are... but I don't own enough accessories to really pull it off :-)

After looking at everyone else's, I don't feel like mine is all that good! But here goes:

I got the flower clip when I was in the Bahamas last summer. :)

My self portrait accessory is a beautiful engraved silver bangle that my Mother-in-Law brought with her when she came to stay with us at Christmas It belonged to her grandmother, a lady with the charming name of 'Mercy Mantle'. She was the young housekeeper of a widowed gentleman and at least half his age. Nevertheless, they married and this bangle was probably a gift from him to his new bride. We've checked the hallmarks and believe it was made by Joseph Smith & Sons, Silversmiths of Birmingham, UK (where the couple lived) and the year date is 1858. It's just lovely to have this very special piece of family history and I intend to cherish it.
