We all want to improve our photography, so let's put our money where our mouths are!
I've used random.org to select three random dates from 2011 (sorry newbies). The challenge is to pick one of these dates, and re-shoot that photo with the goal to improve on it. Use what you've learned so far, critique people have given you, or go read up on it!
Here are your 3 calendar dates:
Thursday, 7 July 2011
Sunday, 4 September 2011
Monday, 31 October 2011
They were picked randomly out of 365 possible dates between Saturday, 1 January 2011 and Saturday, 31 December 2011.
Tag your photos with randomdate1 to enter. Link back to your original photo in the caption section of your entry photo.
If participation is good, I will choose a top 5 on February the 15th, then everyone can vote, and we can make it a regular challenge.
You may post your photos here, but remember only correctly tagged photos will be entered. >Good luck!
@marinda...my first date is a summer sene in a park..now it's full of snow..and please could you explain what you mean by in the caption section... @marinda
how can you alter a picture or take it again if that's what you mean.
date one was a movie theme pic... And was fav'd a couple of times.. plus I like just the way it is ;-)
date two was an comic edit...
But 31 October is a pretty plain white tiger pic that could do with a bit of improving... only thing is.. I'll need to go to the zoo for that one (don't think the little one will mind LOL) Let's hope we'll get some nice weather so I can do this!!! I'm in!
@bruni When you "confirm dates and tags" You can add a title and caption for your photos. for example your photo of today is titled: "Sheltered from the snow" and captioned: "that we don't have..this is a filler from last year February 19th.
today the tree looks green - no birds and no snow. its quite our there..no sound...."
Perhaps I can explain the "re-do" thing better with an example of my own:
old photo on the left, "re-do" photo on the right. I've used better light, a better angle, learnt how to take better colour photos. And so on.
Any chance you could pull up some dates from 2010 too? Or we could just move these dates back a year? I took a break from my project from May 2011 until January, so I have no photos for any of those dates.
I can't replicate any of them as the subjects don't exist anymore. I guess I could subsitute but that wouldn't be what you're after. Hope everyone has fun with this one!
Sounds like a fun challenge! Unfortunately, I can't complete this one. My July 7th photo was a picture of @embermae & @musicguy1982. Unfortunately, I am good distance away from them now and won't be seeing them again soon.
The September 4th photo, was one of me crying, and I"m just not willing to do that again. lol.
And the October 31st photo was basically an edit shot, and I don't know how I would make that better. Sorry.
Hopefully you'll have a good response and I can pick up the next one.
Good luck everyone!
@pwallis
Hey did you post the idea of reshooting one of your pics from ages ago or did I dream it? What happened to the thread? send me the link if you still have it, I meant to play but failed!
sorry, i can't participate because Halloween is against my religion, and if you got that date randomly, then this challenge is cursed by the devil himself.
Great idea, but since I joined in on septemer the 9th the only date I can pick is 31 of October and that was a picture of carved pumpkin :D So I'll pass this time...waiting for the next one! The idea is brilliant though :)
How long do we have to redo? One is my son on the golf course--could redo but it won't be spontaneous but that's OK too :)
The other is a Pileated woodpecker ... and unless I get super lucky I will not likely see him in the same tree :)
The final one is about an hour away of window boxes (which are likely dead now.
I say if we do this again (because I LOVE the idea) we pick the dates from the same-ish time of the year ... so for this time of year we'd pick from the first 6 months or something like that. This is fun!
Sounds like fun and I would have loved to participate but I have two summer scenes and a fancy dress Halloween scene so no can do this time. Looking forward to seeing some results though!!
@kmrtn6 Boy am I glad those dates were randomly chosen! But I'm sure a similar plant/form/pumpkin will do.
@coolgirlsar Go for it!
