Hello all. Had an idea last night; if its been done already, I apologize. I'm a Paramedic in one of the top 5 deadliest cities in America. Some nights get so chaotic and dismal, one would think its the end of the world. We who work in this enviroment have learned to shrug it off, and find some way to laugh. We also grow a different perspective of the world. So being that some think the world will end soon due to a calender written thousands of years ago by Mayans, I'd like to see this: If you know tomorrow will be the end, what would be your last picture?
Well, if it was the actual end of the world and I knew it, then I wouldn't take any photos. To me, photos are memories of an event or thing in my life I don't want to forget. What would be the point to take time out of living to capture something that would be destroyed the next day?
My last photo would probably be of something mundane that happened the day before the last day of the world....
@cfitzgerald good point. In essense, I think we'd like to capture something in our minds. A last thought. For me, probably my kids playing, laughing; my wife's smile, the swirling hurricane that rests in her grey eyes. But then we started discussing situations like Pompeii, Italy. Their world ended, but we continued on. Something left to say what we dreamed. What we cherished. How we lived. Sorry, probably watching too much Walking Dead. Lol.
@losthorizon Good point in the whole Pompei thing. If it was the last day of MY life, but the world would go on, then I'd take a picture of me (hopefully with my family) which sounds lame, but I am a wife and mom. I doubt I would use the last day of my life to create a masterpiece. I'd rather run, jump, bask in the sun, dance, sing, do than snap and process....
Interesting things to think about on this tired Monday
It would probably look something like this cause I would want to be outside playing/having fun and enjoying time with these guys and any other family and friends I could get a hold of.
i have a hard time imagining this...for one I don't believe the end of the world is nigh upon us, and for two, as much as I love photography, if the world WAS ending, I probably wouldn't be taking pictures....because who would ever see them? It might be easier to imagine if the scenario was that cameras were being outlawed (think fahrenheit 451), and what would we do with our last week with our cameras.
I thought this one looked a little Armaggedon (hence the title). We actually had a funnel cloud that i didn't manage to capture in this shot going on too, something that NEVER happens here.
me bending over trying to kiss my ass goodbye.

Make sense? :)

@pwallis Awesome photo. Definitely captures the essense.
@nikkers I don't know whether to laugh or cry for that photo. Think I'll do both, cause that's damn funny.
This isn't the end of the world? You should let Detroit know.
