Thanks so much to everyone that took the time to vote in the last mundane challenge. I was thrilled to have won and am honored to be your next host for the challenge!
This mundane theme was started by Aaron (@grizzlysghost) for those of us who may have lost inspiration. He suggested we take an ordinary, boring object and start shooting it. Turn the ordinary into the extraordinary!
This week I have chosen a glass jar as the subject. The only restrictions are that it must be a run-of-the mill clear glass jar such as a canning jar or jelly jar. No cookie jars, ceramic jars, etc. I don’t suppose it matters if it’s tinted glass. It can be any kind of shot: high key, low key, DOF, blur, forced perspective, bokehlicious, or anything else that suits your fancy.
The only rule; there can be no question the object of the challenge is the star!
Tag your shots “mundane-jar" and post your favorites on this thread. It's Sunday night here, and you have until the end of next Sunday night, January 27th, to take a photo and post it. I'll select my five favourites and post them for voting on Monday, January 28th. The winner will get to host the next challenge. If I’ve screwed up anything in these directions, as I typically do, please let me know!
Just for grins, I took a photo of a jar to kick off the theme.
Uhhh... If we have until Sunday the 27th to shoot and post the photo, then I'm going to assume voting will begin on Monday the 28th, not the 26th... :)
I put mundane-jar in the tag line - these are some antique jars my dad gave me- had to clean them up from sitting in an open box in the barn for 15+ years...
When I saw that the mundane challenge was "Jar", I immediately knew I had to play with one of my favorite childhood riddles:
Q: When is a door not a door?
A: When it's ajar.
it never ceases to amaze me how different people can take the same thing, and make something totally different out of it... some really cool shots already and all of them so very very different!
@grizzlysghost Lol, no, I actually screwed up the dates as Marilyn so eloquently pointed out! :) For the record, while it was exciting to win this challenge, being the sole judge and juror to pick the five finalists is no fun at all! I'm the kind of person who has difficulty deciding which shoes to wear each day, and I don't have to worry that they have feelings. This is going to be a tough job for me!
@elipoet Thanks! I thought it might be fun because it would offer some versatility! Looks like I’ll have my work cut out for me when it comes time to pick the top five.
(me - i just dug up the previous challenge and copied and pasted ;p)
Q: When is a door not a door?
A: When it's ajar.
here's mine :)
I thought I give this one a try!
Capture in the jar!
