Oooooh! I have an idea for this one - must give it a go... Tx!
(Out if curiosity - do you know if working in 8 bits in PS gives you reasonably same quality as 16 bits if you're working in or planning to convert to b&w? I've noticed that some of the filters only work in 8bit mode so I've been wondering)
@mikegifford I am a bit concerned about the titling and tagging of this competition piece. I loaded mine into my project as usual without crediting the photographer, but having tagged it wwyd100.
I then got good comments from my followers, for what is of course, not my picture. Have I missed something in the etiquette of titling/tagging the shot?
Should the photographers name appear and in what format please?
@barneyone Rita, the host of the WWYD Challenges is usually the photographer of the base picture. Not sure I've ever seen a WWYD where this wasn't the case. You can title the picture any way you want, you just need to as a minimum tag it as WWYDXXX where XXX is the number of the challenge. You can reference the base image link if you want, but that is your choice. Some of your follows might like that since they can then click and see the base image for a comparison. Let me know if you have more questions!
@northy For tone adjustments I try to keep everything in 16 bit mode for as long as possible. For me, usually the last steps of editing involve filters and switching to b&w. If the filter I'm looking at using is only available in 8 bit mode then I convert. For b&w I usually adjust the red, green, blue and yellow filters to get the right overall look, but then as necessary I'll adjust the level and or curves. I usually find the levels adjustment to be more useful in b&w for clear definition, and if you're making displacement maps.
I love the color red and I have a fondness for images that focus colors on certain portions of a picture, ie a blue shirt in a black and white photograph.
@redliberated Welcome, Marie! The share code is on the right side of "Your Project" page, near the bottom, underneath the facebook and twitter icons. You need to copy the code (I highlight the code, then press theCtrl key and the C key). Next ,I tab the project page and go to the challenge thread. On that page, I place my cursor in the "write a reply" box, then press the Ctrl + the V key, to paste it.
Someone might come along with an easier process but, that's what works for me!
@mikegifford tx Mike... i haven't figured out the levels and curves aspects of PS - my workflow is a bit chaotic (as you might have noticed from my write up on my image for the artist challenge)... RAW processing in LR, any major playing or cleanup work in PS, then convert to bw in silver efex... so if i'm mucking about with PS filters that require 8bit, it's likely that i will do that before converting... just trying to figure out if that's the right way to go, or if i need to mend my ways ;p anyway, tx for your thoughts on this... at some point i would like to learn these aspects of PS, plus i'd like to develop some competency in converting to bw without relying in silver efex... something to look into if ever i get seriously bored!
So many great pictures and creative ideas on this page! I've seen so many different interpretations I wouldn't even think of. Amazing. I'm learning a lot.
@sioux What a beautiful place, the editing is flawless, well done. It makes me want to go and sit by the water and watch (and take photos) of the ducks and relax aaahhhh......sooooo peaceful :-)

Hopefully that comes across :)
