Firstly - I'd like to thank everyone who voted for my Tower Bridge photo as the winner of the last challenge - a very nice surprise :-)... Now, I'd like to apologise for the lengthly delay in posting the next one...
But better late than never... The next Artist Challenge is ...... David Hoffman.
Hoffman specialises in social issues and I have posted here a few links to some blogs which give you a real feel of his work..
Its tough, gritty, often b&w shots which are in your face and leave you with no misunderstanding of the life his subjects lead.... From Hoffman's website, he says "Much of his work centres on the increasingly visible control that the state exerts over our lives and choices. Racial and social conflict, policing, homelessness, drugs, poverty, social exclusion and environmental protection are documented, often through coverage of protest".
This may not be an easy challenge for many, but hey.. a challenge is never mean to be easy :-)... So I'll wish everyone the best of luck and I'll look forward to seeing your pic's roll in..

@grizzlysghost@nookie72 When I first clicked on this page I immediately saw the Hasselhoff photo and the comment "Fantastic choice." I was instantly confused and mumbling "What the what...?!"
Thank goodness, no Hasselhoff portraits are required for this challenge...hilarious photo, Aaron!
@andycoleborn Andy, six (6) days for the artist challenge is too short. Previous artist challenges are usually 2 weeks since it take time to shoot and edit if you're trying to mimic an artist. Would you consider making the timeframe longer in order to prepare, shoot and edit?
1) Can you amend the tag to artistchallenge-hoffman so it can be picked up with the other entries (no space between artist and challenge)
2) You appear to be a (ahem) Saints fan........ So, unfortunately, you're banned..... (Us Pompey fans don't have much fun nowadays so gotta grab it whilst we can :-)....)
Cool! Thanks for letting know about this, @kali66! I am wondering if anyone in this thread has technique tips they could share about this style of black and white photography. I wonder what sort of settings you might use to get this sort of contrast and grit? My black and whites tend to have a lot of mid-tones in them and my blacks are never very black. I am still pretty new to my DSLR and am not sure where to start. Would like to try this challenge.
