Technique challenge 27 = macro photography
I was a little surprised when I looked at the list to see that macro photography has yet to be a challenge! I want to do something that anyone can do without special equipment or software. I have a macro lens for my DSLR but even most point and shoots and phone cameras can shoot macro these days. And there are techniques one can use with their DSLR to shoot macro without special lenses (see some of the links that follow). Flowers and bugs are typical subjects but there is a much bigger world out there to shoot macro. I invite you to explore the lovely macro shots on 365. Just go to “browse” and select “by tag” and then “macro” So macro it is! Here are links to some online sites that you might find helpful or inspirational.

Moving away from the birds and the bugs (which I love but just felt a need to be different), I headed down into the basement and the grungy work out equipment for this shot.
Although the details of the camera used do not show on this page (because I transferred the image to Lunapic to add a frame) my camera is a humble Canon PowerShot A2500 - I can select a macro setting when switched to 'Live" mode.
