Thanks to everyone who participated and voted in the Album Cover Challenge number 43. My cover was voted in and it is now my turn to host this great challenge.
Here's how the album cover challenge works:
1. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia and choose the link for "random article" on the top left side of the page. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your musician(s) or band.
2. Go to http://www.quotationspage.com and choose "random quotes" from the left menus. Scroll down to the end of the page. The last 4 to 6 words of the very last quote on the page are the title of your album.
3. Next, find or take a photo of yours that fits the album name and artist(s). Album covers are usually square.
4. Then, use your favourite editing program to create your cover (or, if you don't have one, Ace members have free access to picmonkey.com -- and there are many other free programs out there). You can use any image of yours for the album, old or new, but you must use your own images and do all processing for the cover during the time frame of the challenge.
5. Tag your entries “albumcoverchallenge44”.
In addition to tagging your image, consider posting your album to this thread, too. It helps keep this thread alive. That means it will show up on the discussion lists to the right of the home page. It also helps bring in more participants!
To post a photo on this thread:
1) Go to your page that has the photo you would like to post.
2) Click on the three dots just below the bottom right of your picture. Find the 'Embed Code' box and right click on it to copy it, then paste it to this thread.
Challenge 43 begins Thursday 23rd April and ends on Sunday 3rd May at midnight GMT. All entries must be between those dates. If you have any questions or need help getting started, just post to this thread.
I look forward to seeing your entries and welcome new participants!
@sarahlh In past challenges I have entered up to three (with different names and album titles). Sometimes a person just gets on a roll and it makes sense to go ahead and follow your creative "muse." Since Sally is our host for this challenge, I'll double check by asking her if it's alright to enter "multiples." So, Sally is that okay with you?? @salza Thanks!
Here's my band name and album title for this challenge--
Exponential Objects (a term used in theoretical mathematics)
Title is from a quote by Woodrow Wilson--"If you want to make enemies, try to change something."
@sarahlh I have no objections to you entering multiple album covers. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. @paulam I like your take, following your artistic 'muse' is a great way to look at it. I really like what you have got, especially the artist name. @lsquared I have given some extra time for this challenge so hopefully you will manage to get your entry posted. @kali66 great quote
@salza I agree, a week is too short, so great idea. 2 weeks gives everyone time to think and try more than one thing if they want to follow the artistic muse!
OK, here is a question, @salza - I am more than happy with my random dips:
Artist: Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA)
Quote: Look wise, say nothing, and grunt. Speech was given to conceal thought. from Sir William Osler (though the first half is rather better than the second half and I could wish that he had said things the other way around)
My problem is that my initial gut instinct was how well this would work with the image that I used LAST time and how I wished that I had not used it up.
The question is - is it OK to reuse images from previous album covers?
@runestone Beth, I think you can reuse an image. In my understanding as long as it's your picture and the album cover is processed within the dates then anything goes!

My quote is by Mitch Hedberg: I like an escalator because an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. There would never be an escalator temporarily out of order sign, only an escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience.

Hi Sally, my first entry
I decided to try something different for a change, so all of this is done with layered images, even the writing (but not the artist name!)
I decided to go on and do a second one, with a new set of name/quote. My fiorst was based on the name/quote I didn't get in last time.... hope that's ok.
Throughout life, one does not miss any chance to hold onto the things that are really precious, if one is truly wise.
