Today is the start of our new Alphabet Project - one letter a day for 26 days.
We kick things off with the letter 'A' today.
So in this project - you take a photo of something that starts with the letter for that day. Push your creativity as far as it will go :) We can discuss the project - challenges, successes, questions - in this thread. When you upload a photo for the project, tag it coorresponding to the letter for that day. Today would be 'abc-a,' tomorrow 'abc-b,' and so on.
Anyone can join this challenge - so come & join us for something different!

I feel like I cheated slightly with my A xD But I found nothing else of interest starting with A today so an Asymmetrical Snowflake it is~ It's fun seeing what everyone else came up with
I have started a list in my notebook I take with me almost everywhere, I'm writing down all my ideas from A-Z whats cool is I'm seeing where some things repeat such as beach and ocean, I have tons of ideas for B but non for O so I will save that idea for O. I think it will help cause when your day arrives you don't need to think on the spot you can just look at your pre-made list you came up with and take a pic or it should spark some ideas to get you running in the right area.
hey travis - that's a great idea! i figured i would just wing it and now i'm kickin myself....i have no ideas for A lol. well i do, but i want something creative so it's pretty hard :p congrats everyone that's posted today !!! keep it up :)
Oh, I just found this, guess I will have to start tomorrow, since I won't get home until 2am. I think I'll better make a list, too, or I'll be in trouble.
I did what Travis did too, I wrote down all the "potential subject" and it helps a lot, but i also change my mind quite often, so the list is getting longer and longer :) some letters are harder, like "X", i'm sure nobody wants to do the railway sign since it's way too obvious and everybody here has such a creative mind...it is really a fun project, I will have to stick to it :)
I have finally started an alphabet project with you guys. I've been thinking about doing one since Debbie did hers last summer, but I've finally made the commitment.

This project sounds a really good idea, but I'll save it for later in the year and start noting ideas for A-Z in the meantime, what a plan ;)

hey guys! i didn't read the whole discussion, but if any of you have little ones learning their alphabet, take this photos, print them and make them an alphabet scrapbook! i made both of my kids them when they were little, took photos of people, places and things in their lives that they could relate to and did a page each for the letters. at the end i also did left / right - colors, etc you get the idea. they LOVED them!! took them everywhere.

How do I know where to add these? I am new to this site so I added my A and B photos just now but don't see them anywhere except my home. I tagged them with "alphabet abc". Will they show up or do I need to place them somewhere? Tanks!
I am working on a calendar so I can pick subjects with the right letter based on my schedule. My daughter turns 5 next week on "I" and her party is on "M"

this is alot of fun indeed...though i realized i spend a vast majority of my life with paper, as all 3 days have been scrapbooking themed...i just take pictures of something i do or use that day (as long as i can, dont know if i can get ahold of a xylophone yet lol)
I guess I need to read these posts more often. I'm bummed I didn't see this earlier. I will jump in on the current letter. I'm pretty excited about this since I've been doing this just long enough to have run out of ideas. I needed a burst of enthusiasm too. Thanks for the inspiration!

Up until the alphabet challenge I was having a problem with motivation. Now I am constantly thinking of what to do next. I am not keeping a notebook of letters and options, but just trying to keep one or two days ahead. Even then I change my mind two or three times before my final selection. So far I am not taking any photos outside the house. I don't know if this makes it easier or harder. An additional challenge. My wife thinks I am obsessing. :-)
Hope it's ok to start with C from yesterday and wrap around to A and B at the end! Part of me wants to start on my own with an A today but then I also want to be in sync with everyone else...conundrum.....
@rayswrld.. My boyfriend told me that I was obsessing too. I keep thinking about what letters to do next. Tomorrow is "E"! I tried jotting down some ideas, but I seem to always change my mind.
Really enjoying this project, but isn't it odd how some letters seem to be quite easy to illustrate and others are just impossible !
'E' came to me almost immediately which was just as well as I didn't have much time to work on it today, whereas with 'F' I have changed my mind about a hundred times already.
'G' is already planned and should not be too difficult - as long as it doesn't rain!

okay, I am seeing quite a few entries where people post shots they took long ago. Are we suppose to be taking a new picture everyday or using our oldies but goodies or are there no rules. New here so just trying to figure it out. I have been in other photography forums before and we always had to take the picture new. can we use ones we took in the past?
Yeah Christie we are "meant" to take a fresh photo everyday, (Or so I thought!, Maybe I am wrong?) But i thought thats what this was all about? A photo a day for a whole year? be it for the abc theme or not! ( I kinda had to cheat a little for my "F" picture, it was taken late Friday night, cause I knew id have no chance for a photo op today since I was working a 12hr shift!) But am sure thats ok...or not??!?!?!!
I am glad someone brought up about using photos taken in the past. That thought has been in my mind for a while because I sometimes check to see when they were taken and where, if the information is there. It bothered me a bit and in mentioning it to my wife, she said I was nitpicking and to not let it bother me. Now I am just happy I am not alone in my thoughts, but will still go forward stressing each day's photo.
rayswrld - people will do it their own way but the idea is to take a photo each day and not use old ones. every once in awhile we have to cheat ;) but maybe make note of it in the comments. photos taken outside of theme entry dates won't be allowed in the voting process. happy snapping :)
Sarah, thanks for clarifying that! I was thinking about the same thing as well.. good thing I've been taking new photos daily. Hopefully it won't matter when it's added.. because still waiting to organise all of mines :-)

K is being a real stinker for me but it is only because I don't want to go with my immediate obvious choices... The rest should not be too bad. Not sure why K is the worst. =\ This is so much fun!
Not too much, Sarah! My brain does not want to shut off. I have at least 3 different lists of letter ideas floating around! I now have a couple that I was working on that got tabled for whatever reason that I will be returning to later. This has been a blast!!!

Almost halfway there .... I don't know if it's me or the discipline, but I'm getting a little tired of my personal alphabet ... LOL! I'm loving everyone else's entries, however. Maybe it's because I limited myself with my own personal theme within the challenge?
I notice that I haven't followed through my list of ideas :-x .. probably because I limit myself to what's on my list instead of looking at the current situation I am in or my surroundings. I think it's best to use the list as a guide, but simultaneously keep your minds open to new ideas as you advance through the alphabet! :)

Sarah, just the opposite. I am fearing the last day. I will have to start thinking for myself on the remainder of the 365.... this makes it easy and something I can try to plan for. Without a theme, I will go back to shooting ordinary things for no reason.
@Andrea - I would say go for it! Or just start it late. There is not set requirements for it. It is just meant to challenge you! =) Have fun and I can't wait to see what you post.
Was this just 25 days ago? It feels as if my life has been focussed on the "next letter" for so long and now there's only a "Z" left....! Will miss it. This was an excellent project and made me think about the pictures (usually) and not just snap something because it was there and easy. I have also enjoyed browsing the shots that go up day by day. Living in the UK we get an early start and then have to wait a few hours before the sun shines on the US.... The global aspect of the project is fun.
CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE WHO COMPLETED THIS CHALLENGE!
