It was really lovely to have my spluttering mundane steam iron shot selected to host the next mundane object challenge. Many thanks to Belinda @adayinmallacoota for hosting the mundane-iron challenge, and to all who entered and voted.
The next mundane object is garlic! .
The mundane challenge is about learning to really ‘see’ and appreciate the beauty in the everyday objects that we often taken for granted. You are free to use any photographic technique you would like to capture this mundane object but “ there can be no question that the item in the challenge (ie garlic) is the star of the shot, and entries must be photographed within the challenge period”.
You can feature a single clove, or a whole head, or multiple pieces. There are the leaves, flowers or new shoots to consider. Find the beautiful textures and shapes. Shoot colour or B&W, find soft & creamy or highly contrasting tones. You can use garlic by itself, or as the ‘lead item’ combined with other objects. The garlic can be whole or cut, raw or cooked, or even used to ‘build’ a new object or tell a story.
The odour of raw garlic may not be to everyone’s liking, but when added to food in the correct way, it really brings a dish alive! Similarly, garlic might look humble and mundane, but the photographic options to create a beautiful picture are many - if you really, really ‘look’ at it !
The starting date for mundane-garlic is now, Monday, July 11th, and it will run through to the end of Friday, July 22nd (AEST). Voting will commence on Saturday 23rd July.
