Now that we've completed the alphabet challenge, how about some ideas for a new challenge that would take a few days rather than a whole month.
I have an idea that could be challenging but still allow some creativity... a challenge based on the Zodiac calendar...
Here's what I have in mind:
For each zodiac sign, we have three possible topics to shoot... a creative shot related to the sign itself (like the Ram for Aries), the birthstone, or element.... or to make it really interesting combining two or more elements in the shot.
Sign = Element - Stone - Symbol
Aquarius = Air - Amethyst - Water Bearer
Pisces = Water - Bloodstone - Fish
Aries = Fire - Ruby - Ram
Taurus = Earth - Emerald - Bull
Gemini = Air - Aquamarine - Twins
Cancer = Water - Moonstone - Crab
Leo = Fire - Peridot - Lion
Virgo = Earth = Sapphire - Virgin
Libra = Air - Opal - Scales
Scorpio = Water - Topaz - Scorpion
Sagittarius = Fire - Turquoise - Archer
Capricorn = Earth, Garnet - Goat
What do you think.... any possibility that this might be possible for a 12 day challenge?
I love the idea Alex only thing I can say is I'm use to the birth stones being
January Garnet
February Amethyst
March Aquamarine
April Diamond
May Emerald
June Pearl, Moonstone
July Ruby
August Peridot
September Sapphire
October Opal, Tourmaline
November Yellow Topaz, Citrine
December Blue Topaz, Turquoise, Tanzanite
I really like the idea posted in one of the other threads about a numbers theme. I think if we did up to 7 so an entire week it would be great. Or we could go up to a dozen. I think it could go so many ways...pictures of one item, or the number 1 or the roman numeral 1...it would be interesting.
What about a (what is it) perhaps a somewhat close-up ao an object of some kind run it for 5 days?? Each viewer takes a guess, at the end of the time period the originator posts what it is
This is a really great idea, I also like the numbers idea too... heck there's nothing stopping us from doing the themes independently if the group doesn't go for it. :D
OK... I have an idea for a 10 day number challenge from 1 through 10.... Each day must use the EXACT number of items prominently in the photo.... for example, if it is a landscape photo and the number is three, you could possibly display three trees as the prominent central subject. The idea is to use the number of items creatively and not just take a pic of three oranges on a table. Here is an example of a number 8 pic...
I do like all of the ideas, but I would love to start with the Zodiac theme. I like the idea of combining multiple elements in the photo. I see lots of fun coming from that.
Hey! I'm in either way. Alex your 10 day number challenge sounds great too. Would be great to gather the number of things each day.
I like your Zodiac theme too.
Looking at the other ideas, we could DO THEM ALL.
All we have to do is choose which one we do first - how does that sound ????
:P
seems like we have enough ideas for a new challenge, maybe the moderators will be selecting from our choices and will let us know what the next challenge(s) will be sometime soon?
My son (7years old) thinks it would be a good idea to play "Guess it" with close up pictures...I kinda think it would be fun also. Take a close up picture and list 2-3 'clues' in the description box and see if anyone can figure it out :)
Just a thought...
I also think that the number 1-10 would be fun..maybe we should do that at the start of the month though. April 1st we do 1 April 2nd we do 2 etc....??
All these ideas.... which to choose from... :) Here is micro challenge for you all.... this is a common object... what is it? It should be pretty easy... Like Jenn said above, a macro challenge would be a great idea as well...

Actually, it'll be up to one of us to select the challenge and it is really not part of the moderator's duties to select it. What I will do is put out the choices and let you all vote on what you think the next challenge will be...
Here are the choices:
1. Zodiac calendar, each day you display a photo based on the zodiac sign of the day.
2. Number 1-10 challenge, each day you take a photo based on the number of items in the shot.
3. Macro challenge, each day for 10 days, come up with a macro shot with hints as to what it might be and have us guess it. Objects should be common or well-known. The macro-challenged folks could take a closeup shot then crop the section that they want "macro'ed". The cameras made these days have enough megapixels that will allow cropping and still keep enough detail in the image to make it clear.
Reply to this post and just put 1, 2 or 3... vote once only and the majority vote will be the next challenge. The other two challenges could still be held at a later time if there is demand for it.
Starting date for the next challenge would be April 1st.
Voting will end on 11:59pm PDT, Saturday , March 27, 2010
Wow, the voting is neck and neck with 2 and 3 being virtually tied, with 1 a ways down. If you haven't voted yet and you would like to join the challenge, get your vote in and make your choice heard! Remember, one vote per person, so let's hear from those folks who haven't voted yet.
And, I like the macro idea but I don't want to use my ONE photo per day for several days to complete the puzzle. Is there another way to do it without filling up my calendar? Obviously, I am somewhat new to this :)
Carol Ann, if you are an "Ace" member of the 365 Project, you can have the ability to create additional albums that can run concurrently to your 365 album.
can i also suggest an astronomy (not astrology) theme? i know not everyone has access to a cool telescope or might have a string of cloudy nights, but just astronomy related things in everday life.
random star prints, posters, cakes, arts, crafts, jewelry, etc that you come across.
Well, the votes have been cast... and the next Challenge will be... The Number 1-10 challenge!
I will start a new thread with the new challenge.
The Number 1-10 challenge will start April 1st.
Seeing that there was a lot of interest in the Macro challenge, it will follow the Number challenge. Tentative start date for the Macro Challenge will be April 16, for 10 days.

I like the zodiac challenge, and LOVE both the close up/guess and number challenges.
When will we know which challenge was selected and when to start?? (I'm new to the whole challenge idea!)

how about both at different times?

Thanks for coming up with cool ideas everyone.
