Ok, so most of us hate to make self portraits! BUT, as I am discovering, this is a very important self searching discipline and a major stepping stone in the development of every photographer. So, how about we post here every Monday self portraits shot that week. For this Monday only, you may post any self portrait you have of yourself which you consider to be YOU.
I will propose a theme for each Monday and you may post shots taken after the the theme was posted.
What do you think? Anyone interested in playing?

Hmmm, I'm doing a month of selfies right now, so this fits in quite nicely with that. Here's mine from today. (Bit of a night last night, so my shot was kind of....uninspired today, lol)

Selfies are a good way to go for me....im stuck at home a lot so it will help me discover more of what I can do with what I have lol
I have no idea how to take self portraits except using mirrors, and usually that's in men's restroom!! Oh...and Mac's photobooth :-) Let's see if I can think of something...
I'll definitely be doing this today as I'd already made a decision on what to shoot yesterday. It's 'loosely' a selfie! I'll post here later after I've taken it :o)
I enjoyed the SP challenge but haven't done any more since then. Partly because they're much more work, partly because there are so many other things I want to take pictures of and partly because I'm struggling to do selfies with the new cameral.....so guess that means I ought to do it lol.
Only problem is my Monday is at very different times to most on here so by the time I see what the challenge is, it's evening and a bit late to take any shots. Any suggestions?
ahhh, ok. Brain is on dead slow today, 4 hrs sleep is not enough today. Yes, I shall join in. I shan't backpost from my theme month simply because it'll make me do an SP with my new camera.
I'm doing the movie challenge (and B&W), but 9 out of 10 I use me as my own actress.... This pic is me because we all fight ourselfs sometimes... (taken yesterday)

I can't wait to post mine after I take it this evening! I have a lot that I could post seeing as how I already do this every week in my project, but we'll wait to see how tonight's turns out!
@swilde Sue I am not big on getting my photo taken but a self portrait can be so inspiring. What is so cool is that you can do it however you feel comfortable. Focus in on just one body part like a hand or an eye. If you love your eyes try doing one where you are holding up your favorite books in front of your face so that just your eyes show. Most importantly have fun with it!

I HATE having my photo taken full stop, but I'm rubbish at people shots so it might be a good way to 'face the fear' and learn...this is my only version of a selfie I've taken...
i like this idea,i can do one selfie a week,i bought a tripod and a remote so that i could practice taking them

if you don't see a selfie from me by mid week though it could mean i have forgotten the challenge and need a nudge to remind me lol
I love all these posts! So much creativity!! I must ask if anyone would like to take over next Monday's theme choice and post! I will be on a plane to Germany and it might take me a couple of days to get back to normal posting.
@mortisa for me it's too fat , too many wrinkles, fake smile, bad hair day, you name it I'm paranoid about it....do I sound slightly inhinged?...don't mean to....:)

I'm definitely up for the selfie challenge. It's something I keep meaning to work on, but don't. Working to a theme will really help as well.
One question / problem though... Being in Australia, I don't usually get the Monday threads until Tuesday (does that make sense?!) So does it really matter if I post my selfie on a Tuesday?
@mimosa a suggestion for next week's theme...photograph your best feature. It seems like a lot of the self portraits are women and we all struggle with image issues. I know some men do as well. Why not celebrate what we love about ourselves?
@egad What a great idea!!! But maybe for another week something more abstract, something like 'the dreams for yourself', or 'vintage'.
But, @mimosa are you asking us to start next weeks thread? I would love to do that for you, but I think you should name the first theme and maybe write the text for the topic (I could do that, but I'm not sure I would write the right thing). @geertje@egad@mimosa I really like the idea "photograph your best feature" for a starting point for this project. I am going to struggle with the mechanics of selfies as well as the "emotional" aspects... I really hate pics of me... Like @iandec, I feel too fat, too wrinkled, etc. :)
I wasn't able to make it online yesterday to see this post - so I'm starting mine today! I - like others - don't enjoy self portraits but I am going to suck it up and have fun with it! :D
