This is the seventh official Monday of this challenge, time flies!
Make a self-portrait every week, based on a new theme.
The new theme will be posted on Monday.
It was so great to see all of your inspiring pictures last week, we all have beautiful leg and feet, some were funny and almost al of them were conveying an emotion!
This weeks selfies must be based on this weeks theme: Skin!!!
Some time ago Tasha Chawner @tashachawner suggested to me to do a week about nudity, but that was a bridge to far for me. I think we all can make pictures for this weeks theme and keep our own individual boundaries.
The skin is beautiful and all around us. It tells the story of our live, with scars, stretch-marks or just flawless...
And this weeks selfies are also date-restricted. You only can take and post them this week!
You can post your self-portrait in this thread and tag it with monday-sp.
Have fun!!! I'm sure we'll all have a peachy skin this week! ;-)
And just for me, if you have a great idea for the next challenge, please post it here, it will help me to keep this thread going! I really need them, sometimes I will change them a little bit, but I love your suggestions!
@leemac81 Dear Lee, the purpose of this challenge is that you make a self=portrait, of your own leg... I do like the doodling, and this is a nice example.
ooh i have an idea, just need to set it up,more late night photography for me as will do it after work hopefully.
for another idea what about hair, trying to get interesting an different hair shots would certainly stretch my skills
I'm still new to the discussion threads and the various themes and competitions. It seems there are several, and I get lost. lol You mentioned last week was legs and feet. I happened to have shot one of mine. Is it too late to tag it? Just wondering. I'll try to pay closer attention. Thanks.
Edited: I found the thread and posted my photo there. :)
@geertje I like it, Geertje. I'm trying to figure out what skin of mine would look good in a selfie. Hmmmmm.....back to the "moon"? ;>} You keep providing me with opportunities!
really looking forward to trying this later! i've always thought that if i ever won the (official) weekly challenge, i would choose 'skin' as the new theme! :)
@luvthyclassics You find the share box for the picture you want to post, right click on it and click copy. After you open this thread you right click paste in the reply box and then post the reply. It you want to make a comment with the photo you do that either at the beginning or end of your paste
I notice how my skin, especially my hands, have aged over the years. I feel my hands now look like I remember my mother's the most. I contrasted my skin with my granddaughter's in my picture. When I was her age, I didn't give any thought to the fact that my skin would one day look "old".
@debsphotos Your hands don't look old at all @luvthyclassics I almost went with this but yours turned out so much better than mine. @mcdougall for someone who posted recently you had lost your edge I think this is great!
My 'skin' selfie for this week. I'm probably going to have a go at more too. I enjoyed taking this one... just enough of me 'exposed'...
@mcdougall Love your shot Katie! @debsphotos Beautiful Debbie. We try so hard to keep ourselves looking young, but our hands always give away the truth. @luvthyclassics Interesting light and shadow Jesse. @geertje How did you get that scar Geertje? @smevvy Beautiful Heather. @grammyn LOL Katy. @sweett Love that tattoo Jessica. I don't know that I could ever get one myself, but I still admire them on other people. They are art in my opinion. @smile4me Nice editing Clare. @marilyn I have veins like this on my legs too Marilyn. Probably why I wear jeans all the time...
@tashachawner You're so brave! I love how you still look into the lens.
I broke my arm and needed a metal plate to fix the bones, so that gave me the scar/
@geertje Thank you lovely Geertje :-) As you know it's something I've been wanting to try for a while, and it really is liberating to do that first (semi) nude. I may have unleashed a beast *giggle*.
How old is your scar? It looks like it would have hurt!
@tashachawner I have the same thing, I love selfies now, before I was afraid of them...
That scar is 10 and 4 years old. I broke my arm 10 years ago and had the first surgery. Man that hurt!!! And than I got the metal plate removed four years ago, not so painful, but still no picnic. Now it's fine, I only need to be aware of sunburns and my arm isn't that strong.
@mcdougall this is the exact shot i was trying to take of myself! i wanted to show my stretchmarks and appendicitis scar :) but none of the shots looked anywhere near as good as yours!! maybe i'll try again tonight...
What amazing photos from everyone! i wonder if I have an old chicken pox scar somewhere ???? I dont think anyone would want to see my C section scar - a bit low to be comfortable!!!
@orangecrush This is really good @sweett very interesting shot and so nice @tanyasamol great shot AND quote is so true @andrebarrande I think your shots are always so edgy, I like that. @shanne How is that cheating? It is skin @myla what a nice shot @steveh such nice composition @skyepurls I love you your fingers are forcing the other skin up creating those shadows. @cathyzasa great perspective and nice splash of color @louisejb I love this POV and the soft light @elke Beautifully dramatic shot @voodoochild totally classic and alluring @smile4me @smile4me lovely idea @sweett love the real bone in the shot! @deens so beautifully done.. a classic @smevvy very nice @eliserose781 sucha very cute way to show skin. Well done @tashachawner I agree with Geertje.......you are so brave. Great shot @twinsplusone nice POV and color @houdiniem I am still trying to figure out how you did this. It is great.
I have long admired a website called The Shape of A Mother http://theshapeofamother.com/
so I decided to use that as my inspiration. This was a massive challenge for me as I, like many mothers really struggle with the shape of my body post baby but I also wanted to honour my body for being strong enough to carry two gorgeous children and I know that every stretch mark, my dry and scaly hands and every wobble is a mark of my mothering journey
Now to think of how to do this weeks selfie :-)
Maybe "habits" - these could be good or bad.
Have we done "eyes"??
for another idea what about hair, trying to get interesting an different hair shots would certainly stretch my skills
Got it. Didn't realize.
Edited: I found the thread and posted my photo there. :)
I can relate to your photo.
I notice how my skin, especially my hands, have aged over the years. I feel my hands now look like I remember my mother's the most. I contrasted my skin with my granddaughter's in my picture. When I was her age, I didn't give any thought to the fact that my skin would one day look "old".

I just put tale camera on the tripod, got good focus and moved myself around in the frame until I found a composition I liked.
Good luck! Looking forward to your shot!
