Dreams and Nightmares

December 8th, 2011
At school, I am doing something called a Higher Level Project.
My project: 'To produce a series of photographs around the theme Dreams and Nightmares'

So, I need your help. As part of my project, I need ideas, other photographers to compare my work to, other photos to analyse in great detail and all the other stuff that some people call boring, in order to get the much needed marks.

Also, I'd just love to see what the great 365 community can come up with :D

SO:

In this discussion, feel free to post ideas, any photos you've taken, or even recommend another photographer's work that could fit in with my theme of 'Dreams and Nightmares'

I will be so amazingly grateful for any help anyone can give :)

Andre Rucker has a series or dreams and nightmares photographs. They are common experiences such as naked in front of a crowd, falling, being chased etc.
Hope it helps and good luck.
You must show us what you come up with

Black and white/selective coloring might be a neat processing technique to use.

I think motion blur gets across a dream / nightmare effect really well. Here are a couple of my shots with motion blur that might be appropriate!

You could also look at that lady who dresses her baby up when they're sleeping, I've forgotten her name but I'm sure someone else will know x

Well, as you know, photography is all about personal interpretation. When I think of dreams (or nightmares for that matter) I think of fantasy.

Smoke is a great effect. I use incense sticks for my smoke.

For dreams it's always fun to put yourself or someone else into unfamiliar surroundings which don't really fit the picture (kind of like surrealism):

For nightmares it might be fun to try a red fake moon
