I'd love to know too - I'd like all my 365 uploads in one place - at the end of the year I would like to create a photobook of all my photos - I don't like the thought of having to upload each one individually.
I think once it's uploaded you can't copy a group of your pics back to your computer......just one at a time.
From Ross: (previous thread Jan/2012) Ace members have access to the original files, there isn't a "download all" feature due to the way the photos are stored. I would recommend keeping all your photos on your own computer and securely backing them up. @snowy@rosiekind@annemary@michaelelliott@annemary
@michaelelliott I looked into providing an automated solution a few months ago. I wrote the basic code to grab all the images from an album and zip them up, but it takes a *long* time to generate the archive (for boring technical reasons). This means I'd need to create a batching system where people requested their zipped albums and then the requests were queued, actioned, and the results e-mailed to the requester an hour later or so (depending on album size and number of other requests in the queue).
Also, it's of limited usage to Ace members, because they probably, and quite reasonably, want their full-resolution images (which I think Ace members can access?). However, I can't access those without my script logging in as the member, which means people would have to trust my script (and by extension, me) with their 365project user/pass (and I have to write code that's more resistant to exploitation). And of course, I'm not an Ace member myself, so I don't have any sample data to base my script on.
And then there's the question of whether I should allow anyone to run this against anyone else's project. It's fine to be able to run it against your own project, but should I be allowing Fred Bloggs to download all of your, or my, album, with a single click, even just at 'large' size? Technically it's not doing anything they can't do manually, of course, but it's still a question that needs considering.
All this pushed it over the 15-30 minute project I'd envisaged to a several hour project, which is more time than I really can justify putting into it, given how little it would probably be used. So the script sits on my machine, able to process a manual request for a user's 'large-size' photos, but without a public interface.
@snowy I've run the tool against your album and generated a ZIP file of (almost) all your photos to-date, which can be downloaded here:
The script, which only attempts to download the 'large' sizes of photos, as accessed by the magnifying glass icon above the photo, failed to download the photos on these two dates:
2010-07-21
2010-08-22
Accordingly, these aren't included in the archive unfortunately. I seem unable to view the large versions of these photos directly via the 365project site either, for some reason, so it's possible they were corrupted on upload.
If anyone else wants me to generate an archive of their album, let me know, either by posting here or by e-mailing me (via my website).
all shots that I post on here I have a file on my putor too..called..365 funny that! ANyway, I figured, you never know! Also have it backed up on an external hard disc
@abirkill - that's very generous of you. My dad had a small 365 album (@larryb) and he recently passed away and I wanted to copy his album before closing his account.
I updated my script a little to save the photo descriptions into a text file that goes along with the photograph, as that seemed like a nice thing to be able to keep if you are closing the account.
I tag my photos that I uploaded to my project. Just like tagging them to FB, I have a tag named 365 Project. So, all my photos tagged 365 Project are in their own file and one copy is in a file by date that I took the shot. I use iPhoto on my Mac.
@abirkill Alexis i do not know if your offer still stands, but i would love for you to create me a zip folder for my pic's . I am willing to pay for your services! I am not very bad at backing up, downloading, ect.. This would be great if you can!!
@ellimae Hi Ellen, it's no problem to create a ZIP file of your large-size photos -- here it is!
*redacted* (280mb)
As I mentioned above, I cannot access your original-size photos without logging in as you, so if you wanted me to do this you would need to provide me with your username and password to the site. That's obviously something you need to think very carefully about, as you (and indeed virtually everyone on here) know almost nothing about me.
If you did want to go that route, I would strongly advise making sure your password is not shared with any other sites you use (Facebook, online banking, etc.), by changing it if necessary. (This is best practice for Internet security anyway, regardless of whether you intentionally plan to give out your password, as it prevents someone who manages to hack one site from gaining access to your other accounts across other sites).
@abirkill Thank you Alexis if you would please Send me your web site or your e-mail address, so i can private message you. then i will give you my password ect, as i am very trusting person!! lol...i would not know the first thing about using or creating a zip file. The above message i wrote to you SHOULD have said that i am Computer iliterate, but i could not even spell the word correctly, so i deleted it!! I will change my pass word first, You still may have to walk me through all of this as i do not even have a clue as to what i would do with the link above. I will open it and see if i can do anything with it! :) I do know how to make a folder, is that what a zip file is?
Hi Alexis , I downloaded the zip file, but now i cannot find it!! I tried to save it to my desktop, but i cannot find it yet!! I saw it at first, but i have no idea where i saved it to! I told you i was a mess when it comes to computers!~ Thank you for any help you can give me! :)
Let's hang on a minute before you start giving away your password -- that file might already contain what you want. It contains all of your photos, at the same size people view them when they press the magnifying glass button above one of your photos.
If you want the files in the original high-resolution size you uploaded to the site, I will need your password, but if you just want a convenient record of your project you can hand around to friends, that file is probably good enough.
A ZIP file is basically a way of combining multiple files (in this case, the 1,109 photos in your project) into one single big 'lump' that you can download with a single click. Once you click on it to download it (a process that could take an hour or so, depending on the speed of your connection), your computer should be able to open it -- just double-click on the downloaded file and it will almost certainly open just like a folder on your computer.
If that doesn't work, let me know a little bit about what computer you have (a Windows PC or a Mac, and if it's a Windows PC, which version of Windows) and I can advise further :)
If you want to continue discussing via e-mail, you can go to my website (alexisbirkill.com), click on the 'Contact Me' button on the right hand side, and fill out the form (just give a few basic details, mainly your e-mail address). I'll then be able to reply directly to you, and you to me. (I don't publish my e-mail address directly because it's very easy for automated spammers to find it if you do that!)
Sound's Great Alexis. I did download the zip file, and that went quite well and rather quickly about 14 minutes! Now i just cannot relocate it, as i renamed it, should i just try and download them again and not rename the file? I know it is on here somewhere!! :P Either way you are right i did see all the files and even the text files, that is all i really need, i do not need the high resolution at this time.Thank you so much ! I will contact you through your website and maybe you can help me get it (save it) to a easy place so i can find it!! :) Oh and i have a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop with window's 7, Thank's Again! I will be in touch soon! :)
@abirkill You are Amazing Alexis! I was able to download it save it to my desktop and burn it to a C.D. !! Now would you mind deleting the Link for me! :)
Thank you very much,Alexis,I've downloaded as you described and its all worked A first for me! I've now copied them to a memory stick as well. Of course I should have just kept a copy of each one in a dedicated folder, day by day, as others suggest (including my husband). So thanks again for your help.
Hi Alexis - not sure if you re still able to zip 365 files for us? You very kindly did mine some 3yrs ago (August 2013). If so would it be possible to bring mine up to date? I have no idea how you did it before but it went very well. Despite my best intentions I have not managed to keep a backup of all the pics. Here's hoping, many thanks, Diana
@abirkill Hi Alexis, I'm wondering if you could do this for me. I lost my Macbook pro hard drive due to a power surge and nothing was recoverable. I've lost so many photos.... if there would be a way to at least get some back that i've posted here that would be huge. Let me know if you would do this and what I need to do. Thanks so much.
@abirkill my husband tells me since I use Dropbox I could create a folder on Db and share it with you which would give you permission to place the files there.
The best I can say is 'probably'! I've never been an Ace member on here, but I understand Ace members can access the original images that were uploaded, so if you uploaded the photos full-res, it should be possible to get them back.
However, as I can't test it on my own account it means I can't say for sure how easy it would be for me to automate. It probably shouldn't be too difficult though.
If you're happy for me to have a go, you can e-mail me at redacted with your account details and I'll give it my best shot.

@snowy I've run the tool against your album and generated a ZIP file of (almost) all your photos to-date, which can be downloaded here:

I've deleted the link as requested :)
@aprilmilani Thank you very much :-D
I've created an updated archive of all your photos (excluding the two from 2010 which I couldn't get last time either). You can download it here:
http://alexisbirkill.com/365project/downloader/snowy-20151126.zip (605mb)
This is a fairly big file, and so it could take several minutes to download, depending on the speed on your Internet connection.
Let me know if you have any questions or problems!
http://alexisbirkill.com/365project/downloader/slash.zip
It's a pretty big file (348mb) so may take a few minutes to download.
I can't access the original full-res files, so this is the 'large' size here on the site, but hopefully it's better than nothing!
Let me know if you have any questions :)
Susan
