Hi, a friend of mine just baught me an 8x lens kit for my iPhone. Anyone have any tips on how to use it effectively? I've heard that it can be quite a challenge to stabalize and focus the imige, but have not tried it out yet.
If anyone has any thoughts or tips and possibly pictures using this lens let me know.
I have the wide angle and fish eye lens for Iphone 5 and have just found out there is a little stand/tripod you can get to put the phone on for shots. Check on Amazon - might be worth trying. I would think for 8x you would need to put the phone on something.
@pamknowler Thanks Pam, the kit did come with the mini tripod but not the additional lenses you speak off...once I get the hang of it I will try to puurchas the attachable lens. :-)
This 'tele zoom' lens comes in a kit with a a tripod stand, which I recommend using. Hand held it's much too difficult to stabilize. You'll find the manual focusing of the lens combined with the iPhone's auto focus a bit challenging, but just take your time, and have fun!
The other lenses mentioned are sold separately. If you find a microscope version, stay well away from it; it's not worth the money.
There is a bit of a review here on the iphone lens offerings, it is a little out of date as i think some of the Olloclip offerings are now much improved. http://youtu.be/oPV9lD9Fw04

I honestly wish I knew. ;-p I bought mine in a 'digital knick-knack novelty' store. There was no kind of brand on the boxes.
But I've been able to locate some manufacturers:
(1) http://www.olloclip.com
(2) http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/cell-phone-lenses/
(3) http://www.amazon.com/Angle-Macro-iPhone-connected-together/dp/B005GTR1CA
The last seem to be the ones I've got, and are made by XCSource in Hong Kong ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/aag/details/ref=aag_m_ss?ie=UTF8&asin=&isAmazonFulfilled=1&isCBA=&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&seller=A38N3TNH1N2LMX#aag_legalInfo); http://www.xcsource.com.
So now I know... ;-p
I would try shops that sell mobile phone extras first.
