Capturing a rainbow

December 29th, 2014
Today we had a beautiful Rainbow in our backyard, even with a hit of a double rainbow. But when I looked at them on my camera screen and computer it didn't look anything like the real thing. The pictures below show what I came up with. I shoot in raw, so did some editing to get the colors out, but it is still not like it was this morning.

Any advice on how to capture a rainbow properly? What kind of camera settings do you use?

Sometimes I use the sunset setting on the scene mode.

I think it turned out well. What editing software are you using? I just thought that making the shadows lighter and ramping up the saturation might get what you're after.

I have tried a number of time and never got it quite right. http://365project.org/bulldog/tags/rainbow

I took this really quickly without settings :o

So I think it is also dependent on the rainbow, and the editing. I put my picture in Lightroom and "etssoi'd" it to bring out the contrasts and stuff, not an expert so I can't tell you exactly :( Your picture is nice btw!
