I've seen cool shots of bubbles, and i've tried to do it, but they always pop or turn out really blurry..show me your pictures and if you know how, could you explain it to me???? :)
well i have a bubble machine...so i dont really have to worry about running out of bubbles. I just use the macro, but it still is pretty hard to get them in focus for me :/
I had my kids blow bubbles, and I ran around my garage chasing the bubbles and praying for something to come out! I did this shot with a vintage manual focus only lens. So I was pretty happy with the results!
I bought bubbles that last longer than the usual bubbles at a local craft store. Gave me time to have my son get close and me to focus. You can see my son's face on the right side of the bubble.
I have a couple, and I am lucky enough to have a willing helper to blow the bubbles
This first one we used a straw and soap detergent and snapped away
The next one was taken in the bathroom with real bubbles in front of the boy's dark blue shower curtain ~ I had my son hold the wand in a spot in the middle, pre-focused on that and then waited for the bubbles to fall into that area. . .
I only have a point and shoot. So I had to use my flash for this shot. I had my sister blows bubbles into the sink and I shot facing down into it. Then dropped my camera in the water. LoL
This one just seemed to be a resilient bubble - it gave me some time to get down on the ground to get the right angle to include my house.
These took a little more planning and some quick shooting. I learned through trial and error that I needed to dip the flower in the bubble solution first, blow bubbles, catch one, and ease it on to the flower. Then I had about ten seconds to get the shot before it popped. I went through quite a few bubbles to get these two.
@lislee75 lol nice, I did the same thing!!! I had to run like a maniac to get to them before the other kid or dog did. Mine was in a dark spot on my back porch.
Lots of trial and error chasing bubbles.
Or hubby. With this one I laid down in the garden and got him to blow bubbles over my head (that just sounds so wrong lol) I used manual focus and just got him to keep blowing and clicked away. It was a really windy day and the wind also kept changing direction so there was a lot of my hubby changing positions he was standing in.
@michellepj I wondered how you did that, loved that first flower one and thank you for the tips.
Taken by filling a bowl with water, colouring with food colouring, blowing bubbles into it with a straw and photographing from underneath with a light source above it. Was kinda close to spilling it though... could've done with someone to help me hold it but never mind XD
@brookie3 I put soda water in a beer glass and then stuck my hand in :-) Clear glass and soda water is all you need and then just dunk in whatever you want :-)
You've inspired me to try this as well. If you master this, try getting shots of them popping! Those are pretty amazing! http://www.flickr.com/photos/11164709@N06/with/3602239579/
check this guy out! He uses soap bubbles and I believe he puts a tiny little bit of glycerine in his.
INDOORS: I've caught this one with the sticky thingy I used to blow it with (whatever that's called) and just placed it on a flat surface, took a few shots until it popped and blew some more until I was happy with the shot. :)
OUTDOORS: This was a bit of a happy accident when the wind decided to suddenly sweep my bubbles away.
I just left my 4 year old alone for about 10 seconds with some milk and a straw! I got some close ups but the lighting wasn't the greatest and they were disappering fast.
@neatz Hi Anita, I was indoors with no special lighting, was just near a window. This was just a glass with fizzy water in it and I just put a whole bunch of stuff in and then used a macro setting on my camera :)

I am imagining a hilarious video of you chasing your bubble-blowing children around the garage. The sacrifices the children have to make, sigh . . .
I'm going to be blowing lot's of bubbles tomorrow!! =)

The trick is to just go with it, I suppose.
I dropped this in soda water.
