Macro Help

June 23rd, 2011
I tried to do the poor man's macro recently by turning my lens backwards on my camera. I did not put it over another lens as I have heard this may work better. So I was wondering...for those who have done it how do you do it & what lens/lenses do you use?
Here are my 1st attempts:

Awesome work! When I tried that, my hands were not steady enough to focus, so I bought a $10 revers macro ring to hold my lens on backwards. You can find them at Amazon.

I just do it with a single lens, usually the 28-70...

For doing them I handhold it, twist the zoom with my ring or middle finger if I need to...

@mtol Thanks!
@maceugenio Yep no adapter! is tough with moving subjects though (ie; insects) & I can be tough to keep steady with a larger lens. I have tried it with a couple of them.

I have a Vivitar 70-120 mm close focus lens that does pretty good close-ups.

The reverse adapter is super cheap, I highly recommend it. Here's the back of a Wisconsin quarter ...
