Red wheel by dulciknit

Red wheel

Not a cart wheel but the wheel that helps the top part of Pitstone windmill [looks sheepish again] to turn so that the sails catch the wind from whichever direction it happens to be blowing.

I made a b&w version as well : http://365project.org/dulciknit/on-the-day-extr/2013-02-22 and there's a shot of the wheel in context here : http://365project.org/dulciknit/365/2011-10-05 if you fancy a look-see.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

If you have a moment or two to kill and fancy a look-see, my other Pitstone windmill shots can be accessed via "ab pitstone windmill" in the tags for this one.
Brilliant. Gotta love a bit of red!

Warm color pop.

Very sunny red!

Have to say that I prefer this version. Well done, Alison!

I never would have thought of catching a shot of this - how really interesting - and I too like the color version.

I love the boldness of this shot and the red adds to it nicely.

Beautiful colours and light. The B&W version is more dramatic.

Hope you and Lester have a wonderful weekend, love the POV here and colour! Hope you find a good tearoom this weekend

I am so glad you provided the link to the photo from 2011. That was a beauty, too & I would have fav'd that one if I would have seen it then. Fabulous POV and I love how you captured that vivid red contrasting with the green grass, the peeling paint & shadows. The b & w shot doesn't give the whole look justice as this one does.

I love this one, much more than the B&W. Thanks for sending the link to the 2011.

I like your composition with this as well as this color version.

A good shot. I like both shots. The b and w one makes me think of the age of the windmill.

Very nicely composed capture!!

I've just looked at the 2011 photo and noticed that it's not a cartwheel. Somehow, I read your description before and it didn't sink in! It's a much larger wheel than I thought.

@sabresun Erm, the pov on that earlier shot may give a false impression of size - there's a better idea of the relative size of the wheel here : http://365project.org/dulciknit/365/2013-02-02

@dulciknit I have to laugh at that tiny wheel in the distance in the link. Either extreme close up or long distance with magnifier. Well, that clears that up. :P

@sabresun LOL! I haven't got anything closer with the wheel and the mill in shot together. I'll have to get a shot of the wheel with someone standing next to it. It'll be a good excuse to use the mill for a 365 post again. :-D

@dulciknit Yes, exactly. You're just not done with Pitstone windmill. In fact, I'd say you've skimped on it.
February 24th, 2013
@sabresun LOL! Yeah, 15 shots is just plain pathetic! :-D
February 24th, 2013
@dulciknit You have no choice but to go back.
February 24th, 2013
@sabresun You're so right ; it calls to me like a siren.
February 24th, 2013
@dulciknit It's in the name of art too, so we all endorse it.
February 24th, 2013
@sabresun Not tonight though - too damn' cold!
February 24th, 2013
Love that splash of red! Great composition!
February 24th, 2013
Cool shot - love the angle and that splash of red.
