Year 7 on this adventure! I’m especially appreciative of the community found here! I am inspired by everyone; learning from so many. Your shares make...
@aikimomm It is but it's getting harder to find her :) @dyanstevens Super neat! I hope you get to see one, it's amazing. Once you see her nest, you raise your camera to your eye and then, you lose her! LOL
We had a condo when we lived in the LA area and we put a ficus outside our front door... every day, as I'd leave for work, a hummer would buzz me! Took me two weeks and then as I watched to see where she was coming from or going, I saw this tiny blob in the ficus. Hot dog, I held a camera over it (It was just a tad too high for me to see in), snapped and wow, two eggs! She hatched her two babies in a heavily foot trafficked area. They are really something else! Magically cool :)
@elatedpixie When living in Guadalajara in 2003 I witnessed a hummingbird nesting in a potted ficus that was right on the also-heavily-trafficked path going into my apartment building! (I'll have to dig back through those photos to see if I got a picture -- that was before I had gone digital so was shooting much more discriminately.)
@gilbertwood@cheekylulu@woodlandsphotog thank you - so lucky to have spotted her @maree_sanderson it's tiny. With the rain, the little bit of releafing of the tree, I'm having a harder time finding the nest. @congaree@congaree@eyesmile It's well made and her spot well chosen! It doesn't look safe but then we realized, it's a bouncy spot intentionally so that she 'goes with the flow'. Thanks everyone, I'm glad you enjoy and am happy to share!
