18th March 2019

My back was really painful all night so unusually I decided to go and see the doctor to check it wasn’t anything more serious. We started the usual palaver of the 8.30 calls to the surgery but actually things seem to have improved and within a short time I had a 9.10 appointment.

I was hoping the walk there would loosen up my back but it didn’t. I saw one of my favourite doctors and he seems to think it’s just my back and nothing worse. However, rather unexpectedly after questioning me further regarding other symptoms he has referred me for a colonoscopy! This was a total surprise and despite his reassurances that this is just a precaution, he mentioned the ‘C’ word.

By lunchtime I had received two calls from Kingston hospital and I have an appointment for next Thursday. I don’t think it’s been speeded through, rather that there are referral time scales to meet. I’m trying to be upbeat as it’s rather like a disaster situation in that once one person starts to panic it sets in across everyone... or the two of us... and my back is still hurting. It’s never good to Google these things but I did anyway. Doesn’t look a bundle of laughs!

To top off the day I had a meeting with a card outlet I’ve been having problems with in the afternoon whilst rattling with tablets for my back. Despite an order for another 150 cards they won’t be stocking my Christmas cards later this year. 2019 is not going very well... let’s hope Athens brightens everything up in a couple of weeks. Today’s pic is me under a blanket with a heat pad on my back feeling sorry for myself!!
