I did not get up too early this morning as I could not have breakfast. We took the train to Norbiton as the parking is so bad at the hospital and I did not want the additional stress of trying to find a parking space.
I was in hospital for a total of 3 hours and in the event Colin could not accompany me into the ward. I felt pretty alone but to save everyone an in-depth description of what a colonoscopy is like, I can say that the consultant and all the nursing staff were absolutely lovely, caring, kind and professional. I was sedated and although it did not feel like it Colin assured me that I was slightly ‘out of it’ when I finally came out and he collected me for the taxi journey home!
The best news of all from my consultant was that he can definitively say that I do not have bowel cancer and although he took some biopsies he does not expect to find anything very serious. I know I should be jumping up and down but the meds seem to have subdued any strong feeling and I am just shattered. I have the follow up meeting next Tuesday.
