Not a great start to the day. Next door neighbours have started putting up the scaffolding for their extension and we had to move the car. We stocked up Sydney with snacks for tomorrow and set off for Corfe via Hillbrush for brunch. The weather did start as sunny but as we drive west it got greyer and greyer. By the time we got to Wareham it was chucking it down and it did not improve when we continued to Kimmeridge Bay either. We did have a quick stroll on the beach and I found some ammonites set into the bed rock to show Colin. This is the view out of the car window...
We were both getting damp so we headed to Corfe to settle into our B&B for the next two nights. The room isn’t massive but it’s very comfortable and seems well equipped. Unfortunately my old stomach problems that I was suffering earlier in the year have come back with a vengeance so I’m really hoping I’ll feel better for tomorrow. Jeremy the photographer called to check in ready for tomorrow. I hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew... it’s an early start with a 6.10am pick up. I’m setting my alarm for 5.25!!
Places close early around here so although I wasn’t really hungry we had to wander out at 7.45 and we chose The Castle. The streets of Corfe were deserted and the rain lashed down. However The Castle was lit up and the welcome as warm as the temperature inside. I stuck to coke in an attempt to settle my stomach and fish pie with a potato topping whilst Colin went for a pie with a massive pastry top- both delicious although unusually I couldn’t finish it.
