Sadly today's the day that we had to set off back home. It has been a brilliant time, finally seeing Mum after some six months of waiting. We set off in the drizzle at about 11 am and apart from a couple of stretches of heavy traffic due to roadworks, we were making good time. There were masses of caravans and motor homes travelling the other way into Cornwall though!
We decided to stop about halfway at Exeter services. We found a place to park easily but I noticed a queue out of the front of the building. As we walked towards it and we realised that the queue stretched right around the building and into the distance as people were queueing at 2 meter intervals and there was a limit on the number of people allowed into the building at any one time. It was clear it would take us well over an hour to get in so it was back to the car again. With a rapid rethink of where we were going to stop I remembered that Honiton is in the same direction as the A303 and so we headed for the centre of the town. We parked up, located the only open the toilets in the town and had a luxury lunch from the Co-op sat in the car! Then it was back to the A303 and I spotted a what looks like a great place to stop on the way back from Mums in the future which is almost exactly halfway but we will be sticking with our beloved Hillbrush when heading down to Cornwall. The rest of the journey was fairly uneventful apart from the usual traffic as we approached Stonehenge which explains how I managed to take this photograph as it was Colins turn to drive.
As you can see the total figures of Covid 19 deaths remain the same as Friday as for the moment Matt Hancock is not allowing the figures to be disclosed as he's concerned about the way in which they have been counted!
