We were up early as the carpet was due to be fitted mid morning but whilst I was eating breakfast I received an email suggesting the fitting wold be imminent. I threw on my clothes but in the event Sean did not arrive until nearly lunch time. Apparently he was working on his own and things were taking longer than expected. However, he did a brilliant job wearing face mask and with all the bedroom windows open for Covid health and safely precautions.
The room looks massive now - almost a shame to put the furniture back in. We made up the three Billy bookcases in the afternoon with the usual amount of rows. Is it possible to do anything together now without it turning into an argument or lecture at me?!
Later in the afternoon there was yet another announcement by Boris Johnson providing what is now called a road map but is actually a plan of how we will start to come out of lock-down and make a return to some semblance of normality. Our trip to Switzerland could be back on as international travel could resume by mid May. People can start to meet together by the 12th of April (after Easter I notice) and shops and non essential retail can open at the same time. Face masks will have to be worn in shops until June 17th. This is all sounding very positive but it is dependent on the figures of infections and deaths etc. being stabilised, going down and not being affected by each stage of the opening up again. No clear idea of when I can go and visit Mum yet which is what most people want to know.
