21st December 2021

1 year, 262 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020

The Winter Solstice - the shortest day of the year and in theory the days will be getting longer from now on but in reality, the days remain the same length for a couple of weeks.

We walked to Bushy Park in the morning across the Pheasantry as we were hoping to find some mistletoe. Our usual tree was not that good and although we managed to get some down from a different tree, we will need a return visit to get some with berries for Mum.

We then completed out annual pilgrimage to the ice rink at Hampton Court for our Christmas hot chocolate and also to see James and his new girlfriend Florrie on the ice. They did very well but we were not supposed to watch them but we did anyway and they are in todays photo. Florrie was very nice and we walked them to Home Park as they wanted to head into Kingston to see the market.

We walked back across Bushy park and managed nearly 15,000 footsteps which was good but probably not so good as to work off the chocolate with cream and marshmallows!

After a very late lunch I made two batches of fresh cranberry sauce, another batch of homemade mince pies and wrote the labels for all the parcels and bagged them up - a productive day.
