Trick of the mind

You probably believe that this is a collage of two different pictures of the same scene, shot from two different angles. Actually, it is twice the exact same picture, but your brain is pulling a trick on you.

The reason is that, in the real world, our brain never makes us "see" parallel lines going to infinity, because the perspective effect makes them converge or diverge. So, when confronted with parallel lines going to infinity in a picture, our brain creates a convergence or a divergence feeling. Weird, isn't it ?

I made the "component" picture in the ferry from France to Ireland.
That is fascinating Etienne - and the effect is just so pronounced. :)

My first thought was, "What is that green liquid that is flooding the floor?"

I can't see any differences between the two images, it must be something to do with the way my mind works - it has been said it's rather odd! :-D
