I borrowed an idea from @bkbinthecity to show how this unique structure is aging. The inset photo (taken by Frank Hampson) is what I expected to see. My photo shows the plastic protecting the roof and the braces supporting the overhangs. I was a little disappointed until we went upstairs where all four walls are covered with murals by Clementine Hunter--awesome! Photos of the interior are not permitted, but here is a portion of the mural: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36022224@N06/3328327579/.
This building does look quite interesting. I wonder if the roof design has something to do with cooling it. As you know, plantations were built for best circulation. Colorful mural. I bet the inside is neat!
I LOVE this capture, Diane. I've studied it for awhile and for me, it's the doors! Love the simplicity and the color of the doors. They draw me right in. Gorgeous. Would love to have seen the paintings.
Interesting shot, Diane. Pity about the plastic spoiling the appearance of the roof, but that is presumably only temporary and it's good to know it is being preserved.
