New Bridge between Baton Rouge and Port Allen, Louisiana
This is taken from the east side of the Mississippi River, looking at the port on the west bank.
I didn't mean to sound like an alarmist! The Mississippi River is low in Louisiana, but its level fluctuates about 40 feet here, so change is normal. The unusual lows this summer are a result of the awful drought in other parts of the U.S., reminiscent of the Dust Bowl in the 1930's. Those areas are much more severely threatened than we are.
We had unusually high water in the spring of 2011: http://365project.org/eudora/365/2011-05-14. That was more of a concern to residents, as some roads were closed and there was worry about breaches in the levees.
We are constantly reminded that nature is still in control....
Nicely done with the bridge, and I like how you processed it. There is no real answer to which is worse - I don't like either one. Floods aren't as much of a problem where we are - draught is much of a bigger problem.
Very striking pov with the bridge and then on to the lines and angles beyond! Lovely reflections too. Yes, (being born and raised in Minnesota,) one knows that the great Mississippi River always has a "mind of its own!"
