"Every Man a King" was composed in 1935 as a campaign song by Louisiana governor Huey Long and Castro Carazo, band director at LSU. It was later recorded by Randy Newman, but here's Huey singing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzU0Cok3guQ.
Huey Long had his governor's mansion designed to resemble the White House so that he would feel at home when he became President. He never made it to the Presidency; he was assassinated in the State Capitol in 1935. His mansion, built in 1929, served governors, including Huey's brother Earl, until 1963.
