For some reason today, I went to a different church, Sacred Heart of Jesus. I love its architecture, art and history--and my son Jon played baseball on the field here so it has good (and not-so-good!) memories. But today during the homily I was moved when the priest quoted Archbishop Charles Chaput about young people who choose a dangerous (or challenging) career: "They do it not despite it being hard, but exactly because it’s hard; because it hurts; because they want to be the best. . . " And that explains my kids. Happy Father's Day!
