My mother loved forsythia

I bought a tired half-priced bundle of forsythia because of the memories it evoked. Forsythia does not grow in Louisiana, but in New Jersey it was a symbol of spring. My mother took cuttings from a friend's plants, rooted them and started a hedge at the edge of our backyard.
They say, Hello Spring!

I was just photographing some today! I love when they start to bud here- they are such a splash of joy. Good memories for you and a beautiful shot to symbolize it all.

@olivetreeann Thanks! My mother felt the way you do--that forsythia was a splash of joy at the end of winter. I seem to be having a lot of good memories pop up during this stay-at-home time.

It is most loved by so many, except my husband who thinks that its branches are just ugly without its blooms. I love the color even if it doesn't last all that long, a harbinger of spring.

I have similar memories! My mom grew it in our backyard when we lived in Ohio.
