It was a race to capture this sunrise with the beautiful colors in the clouds. I had actually planned on shooting lower on the pass, thinking I would get some great clouds over a different location. Upon arriving just before sunrise, there were minimal clouds at my original location, but I could see the potential in this area overlooking the rock formation in the background, known as the Castles. It was a mad race to the top of the pass with 5 minutes to shoot a panoramic of this scene, before the colors faded. It's mornings like this that challenge me to chase the light and try to be at the right location at the right time even when minutes count and I may lose the shot. This particular morning...I was able to have a successful sunrise experience!
