I just love that iconic painting by Grant Wood, and so when my get pushed partner, Palmilla, challenged me to do a selfie I decided that I could have some fun with it.
Full disclosure - I had 365 partner Serene Barb (sincere thanks to you!) take the actual picture for me, and I am standing on a stool so that I would be the same height as hubby to replicate the painting.
We were laughing so much while doing this shoot that it was hard to get a stern and harsh look on our faces.

Oh, good on you Wendy to come up with such a great idea. What fun! You did this really well, I love it. And congrats on having such a sporting husband too!
Hello Wendy....fantastic selfie & your hubby is a real good sport to dress up like that...mine wouldn't have done! You look a couple of real old timers!!
Hello Wendy, as you already know, I'm your partner in this week's challenge. I will work to create something befitting your challenge to me on movement or action and look forward to the challenge.
I have loved going through your album and seeing "A Day in the Life" of your community, through your eyes. There seems to be so much vibrancy in your life. Love the animals, the candid shots of the people and the general sense of community I feel when browsing your album.
With Fall in the air, and all the great colors you get up there, I'd love to see something a little artistic from you. I'd like to challenge you to showcase some Fall color from an artistic standpoint. It can be a close up of the changing of the leaves (if they are in process now), maybe pumpkins, scarecrows, anything that is representative of Fall approaching. I hope you enjoy this assignment, and find it challenging in a fun way. :-)
Great job you really came up to the mark on this! Such a super re-interpretation of the American gothic painting. I must say though that your husband does look very menacing with that 6 tyner:) A very well done and a Fav!
@barrowlane Yes- hubby does look menacing - but I don't look much better!
Wouldn't want to meet either of us in a dark back alley at night!
It was a tough shot to take since we are both smiling type people!
@farmreporter You could probably post this photo on your door as an effective theft-deterrent. Scowling man + pitchfork = certain pain. I still love this photo! What a great idea and fun to do.
This picture makes me smile -- I love American Gothic. I actually live only 3 1/2 hours from Eldon Iowa . . . maybe next summer I will try to go there, drag my husband along and get a picture! There was a traveling sculpture of American Gothic which I took pictures of and posted on my 365 - one on Jan 13, 2011 and the other on 10-12-2011. The original painting is in Chicago IL - only 3 hours east of my hometown in IL.
