Blast from the Past

A German WW 2 bomb was found in this old barn with its wooden silo.It was taken out and detonated by a team of army specialists from Trenton.
Log-end stack-wall post and beam barns such as this one combines two of the oldest construction methods into one solid building. The framework of vertical posts and horizontal beams produced by heavy timbers were partially filled by using short log-ends to create a sturdy and warm pig barn with chicken coops on the upper level. The barn has many features to make chore time easy such as a concrete trough front of the individual pig pens as well as a small door for bringing in small square bales of straw and hay at the back of the barn.
The bomb was located on a wooden shelf/table beside the solid stairs leading to the second level.
Great story! The color really pops out well.

Obviously a well-kept barn. The vibrant colours in this shot are amazing.
