I am overwhelmed with Gold Finches, but seldom am blessed with his purple cousin. But, the messy weather must have brought these guys and their mates to my feeder.
The Purple Finch has been described as a sparrow dipped in raspberry juice, and indeed, he does look like that!
They usually migrate, and only rarely hang around in the winter so I imagine that these guys have just recently arrived back for summer.
