My get pushed partner, Jacqui Jay, @irisr noticed that I am a 'recording' type photographer, reacting to my surroundings. (so true) So, she challenged me to be pro-active and to bring some cut flowers into my home, set up a table near a window with the light falling sideways onto the flowers. Build a still life with a few more objects that are sympathetic to the flowers and take a photograph by natural light with as wide open an aperture as I can manage.
This is my second attempt.
@irisr
Thank you for this awesome challenge, Jacqui Jay. I am really enjoying it. Seeing this attempt, I know what to do to fix it in retrospect. I should have had a reflector on the right side of the basket to illuminate the garden tools better.
Will try to fix that tomorrow.
Hi Wendy, what a great challenge & I love what you have achieved with it. Great texture in the basket and the tools reflecting the work and effort that went into growing the flowers. Agree with your comment that a bit of light reflected back on the gloves/tools would have lifted them but a fav regardless.
What I like abut these still lifes you are producing is that they are, in a sense, portraits of you, reflecting your interests and surroundings. Yes, a little more light on the gardening tools, but not too much, they are the supporting cast. :-)

I am really enjoying the get-pushed challenges. I can see the improvements in my photography because they push me beyond my limits.
But, I can also now see my mistakes (such as needing more light on the tools) However, I guess the only ones who never make a mistake are those who do not do anything!
@granagringa Thanks so much for your comments. It's everyone's fav's and comments that got this pic onto PP and TP - and I for that I am truly honoured!

Oh, I hope you do try a couple of challenges ... they are so much fun! I really enjoy the get-pushed challenges because you are paired with a partner who issues a challenge, and you do the same for them.
These partners usually follow you, and you them, and they usually continue to follow even after the challenge is over. It's a great way to grow as a photographer, and a great way to develop friends and followers on 365.
This is just lovely. Very nice composition, lovely flowers and objects that all tie in together and very nice processing too. Really well done with this challenge Wendy, fav.

Thanks, Paul!
