Her First Family Portrait by farmreporter

Her First Family Portrait

We are so pleased with this first time mom who delivered happy, healthy triplets all on her own and loves them to death.
She is quite quiet and allowed me to take this family portrait without any fuss. The pens we put new moms into with their babies are only 5 foot square so i was very close to her and babies and she did not make a move.
Oh that is adorable! What a good mama!

Such a sweet family portrait.

Wonderful - it's great to see them so well looked after. Round our way she would have given birth in the field and the little ones would have had to have managed as best they could :-((

Aww how sweet! Is it unusual to have three lambs, I’m sure I read somewhere that two was the norm?

We raise a breed developed right here in Canada called Rideau-Arcott that was bred specifically for maternal traits. They are very prolific, and usually have twins or triplets, seldom have singles. They will even have quads or quintuplets occasionally but we prefer them not to. They will usually raise twins and triplets nicely but need help with larger groups.

This is a great family portrait!

A triplet! Oh, just reading your remark, the Welsh sheep (or some other brerfd the farmers have around here) usually have singles. Lovely portrait, Wendy!
