St. Elmo
Established in 1852, this tiny community has two churches. This one, the beautifully detailed Gordon Free Church, is named after its first minister, Rev. Daniel Gordon, whose son Charles W. Gordon, (more widely known by his pen name Ralph Connor) wrote 'The Man from Glengarry' and 'Glengarry School Days' and other internationally acclaimed novels.
Just around the corner is the Glengarry Congregational Church (1937), the oldest log chapel in Ontario built by the Congregationalists.
This is also for my get pushed challenge set by Elena Arquero @theredcamera to shoot a low PoV shot. If you are wondering about the date ... it is because I am attempting to do all of the 'Glengary Routes' stops during our social distancing and enforced isolation during the present Covid 19 crisis.
Got to stay home, so I may as well do something and traveling around Glengarry in a vehicle with camera in hand is a good thing to do!
Here you go, Elena @theredcamera!
This is one but plan on doing another today for you.
The date I posted this to is way wrong but the date I took the shot fits in the challenge.
I am attempting to do all the Glengarry Routes stops so I backdated the shots to make room in that album. I have a bunch more pics of this church but did not want to overwhelm everyone's feed so I posted them restricted and will make them public in a week or so.
I think you did this well. The photo is symetrical, and straight so I'm able to see the repeating arched windows, the top of the doors and round window at the top.
Hi Wendy,
I posted my Night Photo on my site, it was fun to do and I liked the challenge. Your photo in answer to my challenge is wonderful. I agree the symmetry of the shot is perfect, and the low POV of the bell tower makes you feel the height, "reaching for God". I'll keep watching the progress on your Glengarry Project.
