Glengarry County has been very dry this past month with only 1 inch of rain since corn was planted. The hay, though very short and thin because of lack of moisture, is heading out already (developing seeds). It is doing in case the drought lasts longer, and will have some seeds ready to sprout when the rains do come.
Hay is at its' best when only 10% of the hay has headed out, so farmers had no choice but to cut this thin crop.
My get pushed challenge was to do a diptych, so here is a farm related one. Top photo shows a field of cut hay, drying in the sun and waiting to be baled while the bottom photo shows a field of baled hay.
I have had an extremely busy week with 'stuff' and so I am sneaking my get pushed challenge in at the last minute.
Oops, and so sorry, Francoise, @francoise for leaving it to the very end.
Definitely a story. I really like the green on top of the brown. The problem with hay in our parts this year has been that it has rained almost every day. Seems like the sun comes out for two hours and QUICK, someone makes some hay in a 1/8th of the field.... but the grass here has loved it.
